Ready for more fun glass designs ? This project is for students who have taken Introduction to Glass Fusing * or have equivalent scoring experience. Learn to use the Morton System or free hand cut or both! Pieces are assembled and kiln fired and ready for pick up 2 weeks after class.
Class begins with a review of glass types and compatibility, learn about the Morton System, choose contrasting or complimentary colors, choose base color, begin cutting and assembly. Students may complete their project during open studio if needed.
Projects are kiln fired (fuse and slump).
Purchase glass at class. Please provide your own scoring tool, eye protection, and wear closed toe shoes. Class fee includes two kiln firings. Accessory and scrap glass is available for purchase by the pound, enabling artists to collect a beautiful assortment of colors and types (for example: transparents, opaques, dichroic). Black opaque base or other dark color suggested.
Level: Intermediate artist, with prior experience scoring and shaping glass *
*Bubble Bowl and Ornaments classes are not included as prerequisites since these projects do not provide scoring experience. If you lack requisite scoring skills, an option is to schedule a half hour private session prior to class to learn scoring or refresh your skills. Private class uses window glass for practice. Cost $55/half hour/student.
